3 lighting trends that are set to hit in 2024

Sustainability and new technologies have shaped the direction of professional lighting in recent years and this trend is set to continue in 2024.

LED lighting continues to emerge as the best option in terms of sustainability, efficiency and versatility, but how will it be used most in the professional world next year? Read on to discover the 3 key trends in professional lighting for 2024.

RGBW lighting

RGBW lighting is no longer only used to decorate the streets at Christmas and other special occasions. It is increasingly being used to highlight special areas of cities and make them even more beautiful: parks, buildings, monuments…

In addition, the colours make it possible to include thematic decoration without having to make major changes to the furniture, simply by using light.

At NTE we have the Tower RGBW M-L projector, a very versatile option that allows you to create an infinite number of colours and install it in multiple positions, as it can be fixed to floors, façades, ceilings and poles, and has four different optics (10º, 25º, 45º and 60º).

This luminaire can be controlled via Casambi, an intelligent lighting control system based on Bluetooth mesh technology. With this technology, the devices create a network and the configuration is stored in the cloud and on the different devices. This makes the system very flexible and scalable, and can be adapted to any type of project.

Note that RGB lighting is not the same as RGBW. RGB emits red, blue and green diodes (Red, Green, Blue), while RGBW also has white. Therefore, RGBW offers a wider range of shades and can be used for white lighting only, which allows you to choose the best option at any given moment and therefore offers greater versatility.

Commitment to renewable energies

Using the sun’s energy to produce electricity is becoming increasingly common. So much so, that by 2023 solar installations have grown by 56% worldwide. This trend is expected to continue or even grow further in 2024.

Choosing systems that can run on solar energy brings great benefits on several levels:

  • Respect for the environment: it is a clean and inexhaustible energy.
  • Cost savings: by generating its own electricity
  • Rapid return on investment: the cost savings allow for a rapid return on investment.

At NTE we have two different options to get the most out of LED lighting with solar energy:

  • Solar Kit: it consists of a monocrystalline panel, Life Po4 lithium-ion battery (safer) with high capacity, low weight, great durability and IP65. It also includes a charge controller and an adjustable panel (360º or 90º).
  • Tubular Solar Kit: this option has a hexagonal shape that surrounds the pole. The advantages of this design are improved aesthetics, simple and quick installation, the possibility of capturing light on all sides (360º) and greater resistance to inclement weather, as it remains firm against the wind, unlike a plate.

In addition, both options can include a microwave movement sensor that reduces the light intensity and regulates the accumulated energy by switching off during periods of time when no movement is detected in the area. The luminaire will switch on when the solar radiation drops below a minimum value. When motion is detected, the luminous intensity will rise to a set value, for a set period of time after the detection ceases.

Grow lighting

Another trend that will shape the lighting industry in 2024 is LED grow lights. LED Grow lighting is a lighting technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide plants with the light they need to grow and develop. The amount of light and wavelength can be adapted to the requirements of each plant for faster and healthier growth.

In addition, this option allows you to forget about inclement weather, making the job much easier, controllable and efficient.

To meet this need, at NTE we have our Grow series, made up of four basic products, easily customisable and with an adaptable spectrum to suit different needs:

  • PM Helios: a professional floodlight made of die-cast aluminium with a 4mm tempered glass enclosure. It emits a fixed spectrum in a combination of reds, blues and Growth White.
  • Heliabis: this professional luminaire is designed to provide optimal lighting conditions for the growth and flowering of indoor crops. It emits 6 fixed spectrum variants and its pure aluminium heatsink is able to ensure passive dissipation without fans. In addition, it is dust, water and shock resistant.
  • Helios: an elongated design capable of covering a large space. It has a variable spectrum, which allows it to adapt to all stages of plant growth, and five types of lenses, making it possible to illuminate only what is necessary, reducing light and economic losses. The power of each channel can also be adjusted manually.
  • Helios Lab: This product has been specifically designed for laboratory use. It has 8 independent channels with different spectrum options and a power module and controller designed and manufactured by us with Wifi or Ethernet connectivity.

LED technology has redefined the standards of efficiency and sustainability in lighting. With their impressive energy efficiency, exceptional durability and adaptability to diverse applications, LED lights have not only transformed the way we illuminate our spaces, but have also set a standard for the next generation of lighting solutions. Their contribution to reducing costs and carbon footprint, coupled with the ability to adapt to the demands of a variety of environments, positions LED technology as an essential component in the continued evolution towards more sustainable and efficient practices.
